about laura
I’ve always been a writer. Not paid for my words, but a writer even so. My words have taken plenty of different shapes:
Personal essays / Diary entries / Stand up sets / Comedy sketches / Instagram captions / Non-profit newsletters /Thank you notes / Blog posts / Speeches / Fanfiction / Long text threads / school newspaper articles / academic papers
No matter the shape of my words or their arena, my love of writing, my grappling with words, has always been about making sense of things. Writing is how I process the world, how I move through emotions, and how I know myself.
I am currently working on my first book-length project, a memoir exploring my relationship with grief, trauma, and motherhood.
I live in Durham, NC, with my husband, daughter and kitty.
